Who are these people?
These photos are from an old album in which only 2 people, both infants, are identified. I believe it's extremely likely that at least some of these people are in the Nicholas Kelsch (1817-1907) and James Francis Stafford (1844-1903) branches of my family tree.
Clues that this is a Kelsh/Kelsch family album:
- The photos are from an album in my parents' house, and my mom's grandmother was Mary Frances Kelsch Stafford, daughter of Nicholas Kelsch and his 2nd wife, Francisca "Frances" Seikel Kelsch.
- Most of the photos carry a photographer's stamp from either Peoria, Illinois or Wichita, Kansas. Both Nicholas and James themselves, as well as many of their descendants, have deep roots in the Peoria and/or Wichita areas. There is a photo with an Oklahoma City photographer stamp. I know I had Kelsch family in OK, too.
- I recognized a name for one of the babies, my grandmother's cousin Edna Kelsch (1881-1932). She was the daughter of John A. Kelsch (1855-1943), brother of Mary Frances Kelsch Stafford.
- I also recognized the name "Linnemann" on the label for a baby who appears in 2 photos. John A. Kelsch, just mentioned, married Frances Linnemann. It turns out that this baby, John Joseph Linnemann, was Edna's cousin.
Comments:
- The Kelsches who moved from Illinois to Kansas and, in at least one case, on to Oklahoma, tended to use "Kelsch". I'm aware that other branches switched to "Kelsh".
- When a photographer's logo is on the back of the photo, I've included the location in the photo caption. Otherwise, you can see the location on the photo front, or there is no location on the photo.
- I've posted the photos in the exact same order they appear in the photo album.
- In a perfect world, I would a have a photo of every relative in my family tree. I would be absolutely thrilled if any of these photos are of Nicholas Kelsch, Francisca "Frances" Seikel Kelsch, Mary Frances Kelsch Stafford, Mary Alice "May" Stafford, Josephine Stafford Kelsh Defenbaugh, George Frances Stafford, James A. Stafford, Charles Leo Stafford, Francis Raymond Stafford, Thomas J. Stafford, Michael M. Kelsh, Anna Ellen "Annie" Lawless Kelsch, Thomas J. Kelsh, Joseph Henry Kelsh, Lena Kelsh, Jessie M. Kelsh Purfield, Mary R. Kelsh, Earl Frank Kelsh, Doris Cox Kelsh, Robert T. Kelsh, Marjorie D. Kelsh, John A. Kelsch, Frances Linnemann Kelsch and Edna Kelsch.

John Linnemann
One of only 3 labeled photos, and 2 of the 3 are of this same baby. "John Linnemman, Jr. age 8 months 7th Sept 1896". My research indicates this is John Joseph Linnemann (1896-1969), born in Illinois, the son of John Linnemann (b. 1855) and Caroline A. Linnemann (1866-1934). He married a woman named Betty and had at least 2 kids, Dorothy and John "Jackie" Linnemann. First cousin of Edna Kelsch.

Wichita photographer. "Edna Kelsch", one of only 3 labeled photos. These eyes are pretty distinctive. I wonder if Child 2 (Row 2) and Child 5 (Row 4) are also Edna.
